Mission & History

MISSION, HISTORY, AND VISION

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Coastal Carolina Disaster Resiliency Agency (CCDRA) is simple yet powerful:
to empower, recover, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

We believe disaster recovery is not just about repairing what was lost—it’s about equipping survivors, strengthening neighborhoods, and preparing for the future.

OUR HISTORY

The Coastal Carolina Disaster Resiliency Agency (CCDRA) carries forward the proud legacy of the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance (also CCDRA), the Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) that first united in response to Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.

Formed with the support of FEMA Volunteer Agency Liaisons and a coalition of corporations, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and community members, the group officially launched in January 2017. From the start, the mission was clear: help families recover, rebuild, and prepare for future disasters.

For eight years, the Alliance faithfully served the community under the support of the United Way of Coastal Carolina. In 2024, the work entered a new chapter as the organization transitioned into a fully branded, independent nonprofit: the new CCDRA. While the name and structure have evolved, the mission—and the heart behind it—remain the same.

New name. New nonprofit. Same mission. Same heart for community.

Our Vision & Commitment

Continuing the Work of the Alliance

Experienced. Dedicated. Here to Stay.

Though the Agency is newly formed, our staff carries forward years of experience and commitment, transitioning seamlessly from the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance into the Coastal Carolina Disaster Resiliency Agency. With deep roots in this work, our team combines professional expertise with a personal passion for helping neighbors rebuild and thrive.

  • Kristy – serving CCDRA since 2019, now leading as Executive Director.

  • Jeremy – serving CCDRA since 2021, supporting recovery operations and community needs.

  • Anne – serving CCDRA since 2023, continuing her dedication to survivors and families.

Together with our AmeriCorps Service Members, volunteers, partners, and supporters, CCDRA remains a steady, reliable presence in times of disaster and recovery—walking alongside families until the work is done.
