Volunteer Lodging like no other
New Hope Volunteer Village was built to make your time here simple, comfortable, and focused on the work that matters. When you arrive, you’re stepping into a space that’s ready for you, no scrambling, no guesswork, just a place where you can settle in and feel at home after a full day on site.
We can comfortably host up to 60 volunteers year-round across our 9 bunk rooms, giving teams plenty of space to spread out while still building that sense of community. And after a long day of hard work, you’ll be glad to come back to our 12" Tempur-Pedic mattresses, they’re a favorite for a reason and definitely something volunteers don’t forget.
Our accommodations are designed with volunteer teams in mind. Bunk-style housing provides a clean, comfortable place to rest, and all linens are provided, you just need to bring your pillow and towels. We offer 9 showers on site, including a roll-in shower to ensure accessibility for all guests. On-site laundry makes longer stays easy, and reliable WiFi keeps you connected when you need it.
You’ll also have access to fully equipped kitchen spaces with plenty of storage, so your group can bring your own food, stay organized, and cook meals together. It’s a great way to keep costs down and still enjoy time around the table. When the day winds down, our lounge areas offer a place to relax, connect, and recharge, whether that’s sharing stories from the worksite or just taking a breather.
We’ve tried to think through the details so you don’t have to. CCDRA provides the tools and materials needed at each worksite, so your team can focus on serving, not sourcing supplies.
At New Hope Volunteer Village, it’s more than just a place to stay, it’s a space built to support the work you came here to do and the people you came here to serve.

With 9 bunk rooms, NHVV allows groups to stay together in dorm style spaces...without cots or air mattresses, although air mattresses are available if you prefer!
NHVV has 9 showers total in 3 different shower rooms, allowing several people to shower at the same time--with privacy in your own shower stall and changing area!
Each shower is low lipped, for easy step in, and one shower is completely handicap accessible with hand rails, shower seat, and ramp.
NHVV's two kitchens allow groups to cook entire meals for their teams, in their own spaces.
Purchase and store large amounts of food, and serve your team home-cooked meals while they serve Craven County.
Background Story:
In 2020, The Neuse Forest Presbyterian Church turned its Educational Building into a full time volunteer Hosting Site for work teams coming to New Bern to help the community rebuild. In collaboration with other area Presbyterian and Christian Churches, Neuse Forest Presbyterian Church will be able to host up to 60 volunteers a week. The "Volunteer Village" named the New Hope Village will be affiliated with volunteer groups such as World Renew and the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Volunteer Village Network that has been growing across the country.
NHVV offers overnight accommodations including showers, access to a kitchen, internet access and equipment storage for work teams rebuilding homes following disaster.
Coastal Carolina Disaster Resiliency Agency (CCDRA) will provide hospitality, orientation and support for the teams while they are here. They will provide an opportunity for our guests to learn about the community and how the storm has impacted the area. CCDRA's Construction Director will be able to provide training and oversite of worksites, and will provide logistic support for materials and scopes.
With over 4,000 homes in New Bern and more than 10,500 households registered for assistance with FEMA, the need for work teams to assist families who were uninsured or under-insured will go on for years.
Neuse Forest is part of the Coastal Carolina Disaster Resiliency Agency network, made up of over 70 individuals and organizations working cooperatively to help the community rebuild lives and homes in Craven and Jones Counties.
Strategically located south of the Trent River in the center of Craven County, the work teams from New Hope Village will be able to reach out to areas in the Havelock and Harlow areas in the southern part of the county and still be able to work in New Bern, Vanceboro, and Cove City areas. With the proximity of the Village to Jones County, CCDRA and NHVV will be able to provide support to many of Jones County residents as well.
Work teams will pay a modest per diem to cover the cost of upkeep, utilities and management; but the principal responsibility of maintaining the program and support of the volunteers will fall to CCDRA and its supporters and funders.
Local volunteers are welcome to help support and host these out of town volunteers. You can volunteer to help with a meal, come visit with the team and hear their stories of hope that come from the day's work and be available for special requests that might come from the team.
